It is Mediaș's main monument, with a leaning tower almost 70 m tall.
About the place
The church is first recorded in 1414 and reached its present form in 1482. The west tower, called the Trumpeters' Tower, is almost 70 metres tall, with a pointed spire and four corner turrets. The tower visibly leans. Inside are medieval wall paintings and a triptych altarpiece from 1485.
The church stands inside a walled enclosure with defence towers, which also holds the old town hall, the school and the parish house. Tickets cost 15 lei for adults and 5 lei for children aged 8–18 and include a guided tour in Romanian, German or English. From June to September you also enter the Catholic chapel and the medieval prison.
